I went back on the Etsy train and, after a good deal of surfing, I found some great gift ideas that I wanted to share!

1.  Vintage Sea Shell Print - Housewarming Gift…so inexpensive and so classy!

2. Ruby Zoisite Stone Gold Ring - Great for a stylish gal pal.

3. Karyotype Pillow Male - How funny is this? This shop has all kinds of kooky pillows.

4.  Adjustible Velcro Bandolier - Perfect for the artist, the traveler, the now and again philosopher/poet friend. Who knew this type of thing had a proper name? The bandolier?!

5. Felted Spring Whimsy Baby Bird in a Nest - Just plain adorable gift for a child...especially this time of year!

6. Today is the Day Print - A Daily Affirmation...possibly for yourself? :)

More Prints!

I love to peruse Etsy for unique items, especially artwork. I came across Judy Kaufmann's unique and bold prints recently and I particularly dig her "famous prints." Who wouldn't want a trio of Frida Kahlo, David Bowie and Charlie Chaplin on their wall. Or, how about Woody Allen, Albert Einstein, and Zorro together? Genious.

Check out more of her work here.

The Other Half of the Window...Get The Look

The other half of the window featured a simple short sleeve white dress with heavily layered necklaces, a brown sling bag, and peep-toe sandals with an ankle strap. Check out what I found above to recreate this look!

Window Shopping On The Upper East Side

The self-imposed deadlines need to stop. I never meet them. Anyway, here is round #1 of upper east side window shopping. The textural structure of the shorts and shirt are not recreated fully, however I think they still keep the integrity of the look, especially with the interesting detailing of the shorts. I was really hoping I could find some ballooned shorts like this though! What do you think? Round #2 will be the other half of this same window believe it or not!

  1. Topshop Waterfall Drape Shorts
  2. Topshop Pale Blue Crop Tab Sleeve Shirt
  3. Diane von Furstenberg Andres Blazer
  4. Sandy Hyun Grey Bib Necklace
  5. Vince Camuto AIM Shoes

Another Successful Jaunt to New York City...

First up with my mom ad sister was lunch at Perilla.  As Top Chef fans, our goal was to take advantage of the many Top Chef alum restaurants in the city. Perilla is the child of Top Chef season 1 winner, Harold Dieterle. I had the Crispy Calamari & Watercress Salad with mint, peanuts & chili-lime vinaigrette...heavenly. If ever a plate of completely fried food could be lighter than air...this was. I didn't realize that the watercress, in addition to the calamari, would be lightly fried. Everything had a slight crunch to it, without being weighed down. Beyond that, the lime vinaigrette was balanced by the peanuts and mint. This was a nod to Thai food, without being Thai food. Delicious! My brunch-mates had the duck burger and creamy polenta, along with smokey bloody mary's.

After brunch, we headed over to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Having visited this museum multiple times with my mother, it has become something of a joke that we have never mad it past the Egypt or Medieval Armor exhibits. Like a child just first learning about it, you get drawn in before you look up four hours later. We took our past visits into consideration and enjoyed an afternoon of impressionism and photography!
As I've said before, fashionable purchases can come from unique places. I purchased a fabulous pair of earrings from the Met's museum store.

These Egyptian Chevron Earrings  are inspired by Ancient Egyptians use of "colorful glass and semiprecious stones in the decoration of elite and royal coffins." And, they are a bit House of Harlow 1960, are they not?

From here, we hit up Zabars...the amazing center of lox and all things New York and Jewish. Jewish myself -- I can never leave New York with a hop, skip and jump by H&H Bagels and Zabars. One pound of Nova Lox to go please! YUM!

An outfit, inspired by Upper East Side widow shopping, up next tomorrow!

If the Disney Princesses Had Mothers

...sort of like... if they had a sassy gay friend.

So, I came across this series by Bunmi Zalob via Huffington Post recently. I was getting my hair done and, as I "processed," I was laughing out aloud in a salon full of people!

Check out Belle first... Very funny.

"We've tackled Jasmine and Ariel but if there were ever a Disney Princess that needed an intervention, it would be Belle. When I watched this film as an adult, what stood out to me weren't the adorable songs ("Be Our Guest" is off the hook) or her ridiculously large, ill-fitting yellow dress; it was that her situation is extremely tragic.

Allow me to summarize. Smart young French girl lives in a "provincial" village where she seems to be the only literate citizen. Girl's father is emotionally unavailable and seems to be a bit A Beautiful Mind if you ask me. Due to unforeseen circumstances, girl finds herself being held against her will by the town's beast. She works through her fear of being eaten or mauled by her captor, develops a classic case of Stockholm syndrome which in her eyes turns the beast into a sexy prince."
